Highlights of 2023 at Malloch McClean

2023 has been quite the year—in fact, it took compiling this list to realise exactly how action-packed it has been for our team! It’s been a pleasure to serve our clients as best as we can and introduce new ways to improve and expand our offering.

Check out what’s been going on here since January:

  • We launched a partnership with expert economist Cameron Bagrie, bringing our clients a range of very helpful resources including seminars and informative reports. This will equip them to make solid financial decisions according to the current financial climate.
  • We released our farm benchmarking statistics for 2023, another great resource allowing us and our dairy farming clients to see where they measure up against the rest of the industry and plan accordingly.
  • Our team members Jesse Hall and Braden Smith obtained their Certificate of Public Practice through Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, joining our principals as certified public accountants.
  • We sent a delegation to The Gap Reunion Conference in Wellington, a fabulous opportunity to upskill and network. While there, John Schol spoke about our journey to becoming a modern accounting firm—and then won the “Coaching the Coach” award.
  • We also sent some team members to Xerocon in Sydney for more upskilling in accountancy and bookkeeping. We’re always learning!
  • It was a pleasure to honour some of our team members at our long-service awards. We held a lunch for the 19 people who’ve been with MMCA for 20 years or more—604 years of experience between them! Loyalty is so valued, and the experience and knowledge that our long-service team members hold is so helpful for our clients.
  • We won the Employer of the Year Award at the 2023 Southland Business Excellence Awards! It was great to receive acknowledgement of the hard work we put in to making Malloch McClean a great place to work. We were also pleased to be finalists for the Professional Services Award.
  • Our new website was launched! We hope this will become a valuable resource.
  • A major achievement for MMCA this year was our successful merger with RBS Gore. This took the company from three to four locations and added a whole lot of wonderful people to our team. This partnership has increased our resources and talent pool, better equipping us to create smarter, better businesses.
  • Free workshops for business owners added another facet to our services, equipping more businesses with the knowledge and tools to grow. We ran 35 of these in total.
  • Our New to Business Coaching Program was set into motion to help new businesses to succeed.
  • The Invercargill team began working a 4.5-day work week in December 2022, and the positive effects of this—for both team members and clients—inspired us to implement it in the Gore branch once the team there had settled in post-merger.
  • We were honoured to sponsor the Southland Stags Rugby number 12 jersey. With this and other sponsorships, we supported our community to the value of $11,392 in 2023.

Thank you for coming on the journey with us. We look forward to more achievements, events, and continuing to provide excellent accounting and business advisory services in 2024!
