End of financial year checklist for 2024

As we approach year-end on March 31st, it's time to start gathering all the necessary information for your accountant to prepare your 2023/24 accounts. Below is a checklist to help you gather that information, ready for when your accountant gets in touch with you to bring it in, or send electronically through the XeroAsk questionnaire.

What do we need from you?

  • Your bank balance on March 31
  • Your Resident Withholding Tax Certificate
  • Payroll records, unless we run your payroll for you
  • Vehicle logbooks and mileage records
  • The March 31 balance of any business loans
  • Stock value at March 31
  • Dividends
  • Accounts receivable and payable at March 31 (unless you are linked to us through your online accounting platform, like Xero).
  • Any bad debts you’ve written off
  • Any other income you received during the year

Do you work from home? If so, we’ll also need some information about:

  • Rent or mortgage interest payments
  • Insurance
  • Power
  • Water

If you have an online accounting platform please reconcile your accounts.  If you’re stuck on anything, get in touch and we can sort it out.

The right information helps us to help you

If you haven’t been gathering up your information for us during the year, now is a good time to do it while it’s still fresh. If we have all the information and know about all your expenses, we will be able to offset these against your income, so you pay the least amount of tax possible.

If your business has had a tough year, you may have paid too much provisional tax. If we have all your information, as above, we can review and see if you have overpaid and are entitled to a refund.

Questions? We can help

For questions, clarification or assistance, drop us a note or give us a call, we’re here to help you.
