COVID-19 Financial Support

If your income has been affected by COVID-19, you may be able to apply for financial support.

The COVID-19 Short-Term Absence Payment

The Short-Term Absence payment is for businesses (including self-employed) to help pay for workers who can't work from home or attend work while they wait for the results of a Covid-19 test. To be eligible, workers need to be unable to work from home and need to miss work while waiting for their test results.

There’s a one-off payment of $359 for each eligible worker. Employers or the self-employed can apply for any worker once in any 30-day period, unless a health official or doctor tells the worker to get another test.

To apply, businesses must not be getting any of the following payments at the same time for the same worker to cover any situation that is also covered by Short-Term Absence Payment.

You cannot get more than one COVID-19 payment for the same employee at the same time. Find out more about the Short-Term Absence Payment on the Work and Income Website.

The COVID-19 Leave Support Scheme

The Leave Support Scheme payment is for businesses (including self-employed) to help pay for workers who can't work from home or attend work after being asked to self-isolate for more than 4 days.

There’s a one-off payment of $600 a week per full-time worker who is working 20 hours or more a week and $359 a week per part-time worker working less than 20 hours a week. Should your employee or yourself need to self-isolate for more than 11 calender days and cant work from home then you can apply for a second week payment. You can also apply for a third and subsequent leave support payments for every 7 days of continued isolation.

To apply, businesses must not be getting any of the following payments at the same time for the same worker to cover any situation that is also covered by Short-Term Absence Payment.

You cannot get more than one COVID-19 payment for the same employee at the same time. Find out more about the Leave Support Scheme payment on the Work and Income Website.

Don't forget to look after yourself! It’s more important now than ever to have awareness of our mental health and know some key steps to help build resiliency. Here are some tips to manage uncertainty from our recent webinar with the amazing mindfulness coach, Maya Nova. A reminder there is also the Xero Assistance Programme (XAP) still available to use. Xero customers on a starter, standard or premium plan can access free and confidential counselling and resources through the programme.

Take care.
