Rugby Southland was first established in 1887 after splitting from Otago and continues to be the overarching administrators of rugby in
Southland. With 32 clubs and over 6,000 participants, club representatives and administrators in the area, Rugby Southland’s role is to
develop all aspects of rugby while supporting club development to help ensure their sustainability.
Malloch McClean Southland has been supporting The Pantry over the years. A bit about The Pantry: In May 2017
South Alive opened the doors to The Pantry, a bulk grocery and speciality foods store with a community cafe that is designed to create
revenue to fund South Alive and their community projects. At the heart of The Pantry is sustainability, nourishment and the community.
Malloch McClean Tasman hosted “Feast" at the end of 2019. Feast was a mystery night out showcasing
the best culinary experiences Nelson has to offer with all proceeds going to the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter. The event raised
$47,000 for the Rescue Helicopter which helps ensure support is available in the community when needed. With a shortfall of roughly $3K
per life, this donation will help save 16 valuable lives in the Tasman community. A bit about Nelson Marlborough rescue
Helicopter: Each year the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter responds to over 500 missions throughout the Nelson, Tasman,
Marlborough and Buller regions. With the base in Nelson being surrounded by three National Parks, alpine peaks, numerous world class
mountain bike tracks, a ski field within driving distance and the beautiful coastal waters that surround the region, the rescue helicopter
proves to be a vital service within the community.
